Gift ideas for Father’s Day

It’s that time of the year again, where we all realise how soon Father’s Day is and that we need to get into gear and find a gift. They’re always the hardest to buy for pretty much every year (and then Christmas will be here before we know it and we’ll need an additional gift).

Not to worry though, we have a list of perfect gifts that Dad might actually use (no socks and ties to be seen). Don’t thank us, but you might need to get a move on!

Footy membership

We’re at the peak of footy season at the moment, and Dad’s are known for getting into the footy fever. If the old TV in the man cave (or garage) is the only place he gets to watch his team play… then it may be time for an upgrade.

Most men neglect their skin, it’s a known fact. While women are the first to buy expensive skincare in the name of a youthful appearance, it doesn’t mean it’s only meant for them. Priceline and Mecca both have sections dedicated to mens skincare.

No, we’re not talking about one of those cookbooks that swear by the benefits of getting rid of all sugar, or how great kale is for the body… we’re talking about a proper “man food” cookbook. Cooking is easily one of the most satisfying hobbies of all time, and we know that most dads get all excited at the prospect of a new BBQ, so why not help them with the food part? Booktopia has one of the largest online libraries available to order in Australia. Our favourites are Dude Food and Cook Like A Man

Noise cancelling headphones

Not just for plane travelling, noise cancelling headphones are great when you just need to drown out the world for a moment. Perfect for morning commutes, some quiet time at the work desk, or outside when gardening during summer, these are sure to get their money’s worth with Dad, and there are price points for every budget. Sony has this great set for under $100, you can’t go wrong!

A day out

The good thing about our Fathers is more often than not, they’re not into material goods at all. Take the day on Sunday and go for a relaxing brunch or to a movie – this can be nicer than a wrapped gift. Find a place that does a great Full English Breakfast with some coffee and hit the cinema (the new Mission Impossible is out at the moment), and you’ll have them grinning from ear to ear!
